Fifty Hats & Fifty Bags added to Conran Octopus & Design Museum: Fifty Series
Two new titles in the Fifty Series published by Octopus Publishing in conjunction with London's Design Museum...
Years ago, I co-designed hat which we manufactured for 5 years in our own Studio at 27 W. 27 St. our customers Barneys, Neiman's and SFA
Also, I am almost, always seen wearing some sort of headwear...
And as we all love bags, I think these books will make a nice additions to StyleScouts collection of fashion references...

Another lamp hit the dust...
A lovely old chinese vase lamp from New York needs to be re-wired. Electrical goods do not last long in the UK... Mean found IKEA's cheapest shade pairing with a nice solid base from the Wed flea-market in GENEVA 3f.

East German Retro?
On sale at B&Q for £4.99. very well made, very solid and bought because I thought the design had value, in a Bauhaus-sort’ a-way.
What I particularly love is it's red colour and the chrome. For a while I liked these red's and I have found that you can get this colour as a houshold gloss from Crown Paint called "Scooter Red” which when dried is a great high-gloss that looks great on old furniture or to strengthen an old piece wicker, perhaps chairs that needs reinforcing although I use it to paint old baskets and wooden trays... I have found out why it was so cheep!
In Europe now, the only light bulbs available are “smart bulbs”, which are all too big. The is an old design and only takes the older smaller globe bulbs that came out in the1970’s. Back then those bulbs looked very modern now and would still work but unobtainable.
To cut a longer story short, I went with a heavy spot, to give it an ambiguous look…
I think it would have been a good fit at that recent V&A exhibit on East German design >>>>

Book Review: ONCE UPON A TIME, by Slim Aarons
This book review has been in my draft file since before Christmas, originally planned to be my recommendation for the season...
However, I could not draft a short enough piece explaining how much I love to look at this volume. That season when it everybody in retail in NY involved in marketing style or lux usually had a worn copy floating around the office...
Robert Burke had, the middle image above, pinned to the center, of his inspiration board...
My original idea was just to title the post "Sublime"
After much thought to some how talk up the book in a clever way I realise I should have said that and delivered the copy on time
